What people
have been saying about Abundant Gifts from the
Word (which have also sent out from Today's Christian Woman online
site as "Encouraging
Words"):
"These are the first thing I read every morning when I
turn on my computer. I have been completely blessed by
these!"
--Marian L.,
Illinois
"These devotionals are awesome! I print them out and
give them to my daughters, people at
work.
"I posted one on the refrigerator for my husband to
read. It fit our situation so exactly I couldn't believe it. It
was from Proverbs 18:13, about spouting off before
listening--something my husband is always doing. Even though I
didn't say a word to him about it, I notice he's
changing--listening more before spouting off. Your words
touched him and this is helping our
marriage!"
--Mary F.,
Connecticut
I wanted to let you know,
Diane, that I cannot thank you enough for writing
the devotional which came through Encouraging Words
today.
There are so many things coming against me right
now and it is so encouraging to be reminded that it
doesn't mean God doesn't love me and He does not
withhold His love from us in the midst of it. Also,
that verse about how He did not spare His own son
is one of my favorite and I needed to be reminded
of it. Also, that I can have victory in the midst
of these overwhelming circumstances.
I want so much to move ahead with writing the book
God has laid on my heart and right now because of
the trouble and things I'm walking through, though
I am writing, it is very difficult to focus on
organizing a book proposal.
In the midst of this trauma, here comes these
beautiful, reassuring and strengthening
thoughts.
It reminds me of the importance and power writing
can have on others because of the impact this
devotional had on me.
I pray God will deliver me from these troubles so I
can also minister to other people the way you have
today.
Anyway, I just want to thank you for being faithful
to use the gifts God has given you to strengthen,
encourage and comfort the body of Christ.
Warm Blessings,

Here's
the message Sharon was referring
to:
"Since he did not spare
even his own Son but gave him up for us all, won't he also
give us everything else? … Can anything ever separate us
from Christ's love? Does it mean he no longer loves us if
we have trouble or calamity, or are persecuted, or hungry,
or destitute, or in danger, or threatened with death? … No,
despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours
through Christ, who loved us. … No power in the sky above
or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will
ever be able to separate us from the
love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus
our Lord." (Romans 8:32, 35, 37, 39, New Living
Translation)
My message focused on how nothing
can separate us from the
love of God. We must not look to circumstances for evidence
of God's love or proof that he will take care of us. Since
God did not withhold the best he had to give us—the life of
his Son—we can be assured he also give us everything else,
including his love and power.
Do not look at circumstances; gaze
instead at the
cross of Christ and what he suffered there for
you. Then his suffering—and victory—will swallow up your
suffering. Paul says that "overwhelming victory" is
ours.
